Trip

We've handcrafted an unforgettable sailing trip to croatia just for you, where you'll get to experience the authentic beauty of the Dalmatian Islands from the refreshing embrace of the sea.

Come and sail the beautiful Dalmatian islands by boat, where you'll find fascinating seafaring traditions, meet the lovely people who live there, and visit cultural sites protected by UNESCO.

Picture the experience of a Croatian cruise on a sailing yacht. The journey will bring you to the iconic Dalmatian Islands, where you will have the opportunity to visit their picturesque ports and walled cities. Please make your way to the deck to enjoy the sunrise. The island's unspoilt beaches are sure to satisfy those seeking a secluded vacation. O learning the secrets of navigation and sailing, and participating in the manoeuvres on board... In summary, your potential is limitless.

The Dalmatian Islands are currently recognised as a one of the best yachting destinations in the world for a cruise.

This is due to the few miles between islands, its mild climatetheir long sunny days and the wide range of activities you have to do.

The catamaran trip to Croatia takes in the area of Central Dalmatia and covers the islands close to the coastline, between Split and Dubrovnik. This area offers a wide variety of attractions on its islands, the most beautiful in the Adriatic for many.

In addition, as a colourful detail, in Dubrovnik a large part of the popular series Game of ThronesThis has made it a tourist attraction of great interest. It is a striking city that attracts at first sight with its imposing walls and fortifications and hides an incredible cultural range.

Sailing in Croatia no previous experience is required.

Sailing in its waters is usually very calm. Rarely is a significant wave generated in the summer season.

If you prefer a private boat trip then visit our section on rent a boat in Croatia for private groups.

Here are some more details about the sailing experience in the Dalmatian Islands:

travel-croatia-velero

How it works

  • The Croatia cruise is led by a skipper who is in charge of steering the boat and showing you the activities proposed during the week of sailing.

It is important to note that there is no guide on board for the tours.

  • We try to plan an ambitious itinerary because we like to make the most of the areas where we sail. We will sail a few extra miles so as not to miss anything in the Dalmatian Islands. We guarantee to visit the most interesting places in the area.

The route is subject to change due to weather conditions and problems with mooring reservations. The safety of the yacht and passengers always comes first.

  • You will experience travelling around Croatia on a sailing boat with other people. We have capacity for a maximum of 8 passengers, so you will share the cruise with people with the same desire to enjoy yourself as you. Each pair of passengers will stay in their own cabin with private or shared bathroom, depending on the boat.

  • You will learn the concepts of sailing. You will have the opportunity to steer the boat and take part in the sailing manoeuvres on board, if you are interested of course. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.

  • The final price is fixed, it does not vary at all.. No matter what fuel, port taxes or food you consume at the end of the trip. You will pay nothing more.

  • The cook is included. You will not have to cook. You do not have to buy food on arrival, nor during the week.. This way, you will have much more time during the week to enjoy yourselves. You will also be able to order any type of food in advance.

  • Travel itinerary may vary depending on external factors such as weather and availability of moorings. Unlike larger vessels, where the itinerary is fixed.

You can check in our section for shared groups. cabin charter sailing trips more information on how this type of travel works.

Skipper

Vedran

The fact that I was born on an island with a long seafaring tradition, the beautiful Croatian island of Vis, made it possible for me to be in love with sailing and the sea from an early age. This made it possible for me to have been in love with sailing and the sea since I was a child.

I hope to be able to pass on to you all that I have learnt about the sea and my homeland during these 7 days together on board. We are going to have a great time 🙂

Tour

ruta-croatia-velero (1)

Day 1: FIRST NIGHT IN DRVENIK ISLANDS

Once the preparations had been made and the boat was at sea, we set sail on Saturday after lunch between 16-18h from the marina. We head for the lonely Drvenik islands, south of Drvenik Veli. Here we will anchor in a secluded cove for your first swim. Dinner on the boat.

You begin to familiarise yourselves with the boat and to realise what a great adventure it is to make this sailing trip in Croatia.

navegar-croatia-velero-vis

Day 2: VISIT VIS ISLAND

After a hearty breakfast and a morning swim, we head south to the island of Vis, one of the most remote islands in central Dalmatia. A place of peace and tranquillity, ideal for relaxation.

We will stop at one of the beautiful coves in the north for lunch and to snorkel in the crystal clear waters.

Later we will reach the beautiful village of Vis. Walking along the promenade around the bay is very pleasant. You disembark to visit it. The village is small, so we also recommend that you take a taxi (the only one on the island) to visit the other village on the island, Komiza, also very charming, 15 minutes away by road. Dinner on board.

ruta-croatia-velero-hvar

Day 3: VISIT TO HVAR ISLAND

On any Croatian sailing cruise, a visit to the imposing town of Hvar is unavoidable. This is where we disembark.

We have the whole day to explore the westernmost part of the island, with two of the most beautiful villages in Dalmatia, Hvar and Stari Grad. The circular route from Hvar to Stari Grad has great views. Renting a car is the most convenient. A scooter is also highly recommended. Otherwise, a taxi is the most convenient. Eat out.

In the evening we return to the sailing boat, which will be waiting for you at the same place. We jump off the island to Korcula, we have a 2 hour journey to the anchorage. We arrive at sunset and we are sure that we will still have time for a swim.

rent-a-car-croatia-beach-saplun

Day 4: LASTOVO NATURAL PARK

First thing in the morning we move to the idyllic neighbouring islands of Proizd, half an hour's drive. We arrive at a cove where we will be alone, here we have breakfast like kings.

Later we head for the islands east of Lastovo in the Lastovo Nature Park, one of the most remote islands in Croatia. A place of peace and tranquillity. You have the whole afternoon to explore this place. A bike can be a good idea to explore it. One of the places where we have seen the most stars. You won't want to go to sleep, I assure you. Dinner on board.

circuit-croatia-mljet

Day 5: LEGENDARY CITY OF KORCULA

We set course for the small island of Saplun, where you enjoy paddle boarding in the calm turquoise blue waters.

After lunch we weighed anchor and headed for the town of Korcula, a legendary town if ever there was one. One of the highlights of the trip. You dine out.

navegar-croatia-velero-scedro

Day 6: SCEDRO ISLAND AND HVAR

With some sadness we set off and leave behind us possibly one of the most beautiful villages we have seen in years. We head back to the island of Hvar. On the way we stop at the coves on the northwest coast of the Peljesac peninsula for a morning swim in the beautiful waters.

We continue on our way and stop now at the island of Scedro, a virtually untouched island in its entirety. We anchor in a cove in the south and have lunch here, a luxury.

At dusk we reach a beautiful bay on the island of Hvar, a bay for sailboats only, where a buoy awaits us. Dinner at its beachfront restaurant is the best way to celebrate what is turning out to be a memorable trip.

travesia-velero-croatia--solta

Day 7: SOLTA ISLAND AND ARRIVAL AT MARINA SPLIT

We have breakfast and head back to the marina.

Halfway we stop for lunch and a last swim in one of the fantastic coves in the south of the island of Solta. We arrive late in the day at the marina. You have dinner outside.

It has been a very special trip where we have seen and learned a lot of things. You disembark on Saturday at 9am. This is the end of your adventure on board.

We remind you that the proposed itinerary is subject to weather conditions in the area and at the time. The skipper of the boat may change the route for safety reasons for the passengers and the boat.

We will also be able to modify the mooring points fixed in the itinerary due to problems with port bookings.

Activities

activity-sailing-sailing-sailing

Sailing

Sailing in Croatia among an endless of islands is a marvel. Its mid-morning breezes allow for relaxing sailing trips, the most pleasurable of sailings.

You will learn many concepts of sailing if you are interested. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.

activity-snorkelling-vacation-sailing

Snorkel

Snorkelling from the boat is one of the highlights of the Croatia sailing cruise. You can do this activity at any time of the day.

Part of the attraction of the Croatian islands is the clarity of their turquoise waters and the mysterious shipwrecks hidden on the seabed.

activity-bicycle-travel-sailing-island-dalmatians

Bicycle

You can explore the remote and lush Lastovo Nature Park and its lakes by bike, a privileged landscape. But you can also go on foot.

The area of the Dalmatian Islands is very attractive for cycling. Its charming villages, preserved nature, mountains and stunning coastline lend themselves to cycling.

activity-cultural-visits-crossing-sailing-boat

Cultural visits

Reaching the fishing villages of these islands by boat is the best way to do it like in the old days.

The history of the Dalmatian islands is impressive. The historic centres of the coastal villages are a delight, some of them protected by UNESCO. You will have time to visit them during your trip.

activity-sail-travel-sailboat

Swimming

All you have to do is put on your swimming costume and jump off the boat. The early morning swim is the most enjoyable of the day.
activity-hiking-vacation-sailing

Trekking

You can explore the areas where you stop with the boat on foot. There is nothing more satisfying than anchoring in a hidden bay, disembarking ashore, and heading inland following the path that leads to the nearest hill.

You can even get to a viewpoint to watch the sunset from the heights. Remember to take a photograph of our beautiful boat 🙂

Highlights

tour-croatia-saplun

Saplun Beach (Lastovo Nature Park)

Few words suffice to describe this remote bay in the middle of the Lastovo Nature Park. This inlet of crystal-clear waters ends in another of Croatia's most beautiful beaches, completely unspoilt, sandy and rocky, surrounded by forest, which gives it a wild air like few others.

This is one of the best anchorages on your sailing trip to Croatia. Make the most of it!

sailing-croatia-sailing-komiza

Village of Komiza

Many Croats and non-Croats alike love the unsophisticated and somewhat bohemian atmosphere of Komiza.

On the west coast, at the foot of Mount Hum, is Komiza. A captivating little village nestling in a large bay. Narrow lanes of brown 17th century houses wind up from the harbour, used by fishermen since the 12th century.

tour-croatia-korcula

Town of Korcula

Arriving by boat by sea you will be amazed by the idyllic setting of this beautiful city. The majestic mountains in front of you, the defensive towers and the remains of the city walls are breathtaking.

Surrounded by imposing defensive battlements, this coastal citadel exudes history, with its marble streets and Renaissance and Gothic buildings. Its very presence deterred pirates from approaching the town.

travel-travel-croatia-hvar

Town of Hvar

The town of Hvar is one of those places you can't miss. Its old buildings with marble streets, its castle on top and the splendid Pakleni islands in front of it, make a scene that is hard to beat. At night it also enjoys one of the best atmospheres in the area.
travel-croatia-sailing-vis

Town of Vis

The village of Vis is the most important village on the island of Vis. It is located at the bottom of a large bay, where it offers great shelter. This is one of the reasons why it is so popular for boats to come here.

The tranquillity that reigns on the island of Vis is hard to find nowadays, far from the hustle and bustle of the tourist circuits. A stroll along the path around the bay is very pleasant.

circuit-croatia-stari-grad

Stari Grad

Wandering through the narrow streets and picturesque squares of Stari Grad will take you back in time. Walking along the promenade and gazing at the scenery is a privilege. It is a town with a lot of charm.

Stari Grad is the oldest town in Croatia. The Greeks arrived in 384 b.c. and established a settlement called Pharos in the beginning. Its remains show us the true history of the island of Hvar.

tour-croatia-proizd

Proizd Islands

Only a small strait separates the island of Proizd from the western part of the island of Korcula. This small, unspoilt island has some of the most beautiful waters for dozens of miles. Bathing on its remote and unspoilt beaches is a luxury.
navegar-croatia-velero-split

Diocletian's Palace and the medieval city of Split

Opposite the harbour, Diocletian's Palace is one of the most important Roman ruins in Croatia today.

Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Its narrow streets conceal passageways and courtyards, some deserted and eerie, others with thundering music, bars and cafés.

Please note that you will not be visiting Split during the week. You can visit it on the day of arrival or on the way back at the end of the trip before taking the plane, highly recommended.

It was my first trip and I am looking forward to more. Everything was great
I booked a gulet trip in Turkey through them and everything was wonderful. Very reliable and professional agency 100%. Highly recommended
We are a family of 7 people, we are sailing in Croatia for 7 days this summer 2024.
The trip has been a fantastic experience, combining sailing and discovering wonderful beaches and bays during the day with visits to the cities in the afternoons and evenings (Vis, Hvar, Korcula, Stari Grad, Split and Trogir). All this under the guidance of our wonderful skipper, Pave.
We would like to thank Joan Nogueron, from the Melee Travels Agency, for his organisation, advice and tips to make this trip a success.
Thank you for everything, we will surely repeat in another destination.
I booked a trip to Turkey by gulet with Mêlée Travels and I couldn't be happier. Joan, is super professional, at all times informed me about the trip, route and characteristics of the trip in a very accessible way. Thank you very much for everything, thanks to you it has been an unforgettable trip. A very reliable agency, I will recommend you as much as I can!

The trip itself has been good, for the places we have been able to enjoy and certainly for the company, but we would not repeat with this company, we had chosen precisely this one because of the comments and in our case they have not been adjusted to reality.
- The food was scarce, it had the feeling of being in camps, with a daily pasta menu with very basic preparations, and the breakfasts were also very scarce. Luckily in port we were buying our own bread and pastries to be able to have a good breakfast. We know that the cook who usually does the crossing failed and the new one was not used to these tasks on a ship, but I consider that the passengers should not pay for these inconveniences. The same goes for the mess and lack of cleanliness in the galley. I would like to thank Lucia and Lourdes, two crew members who took charge of the galley and solved a large part of the problem.
- The whole week without air conditioning due to a breakdown. We are in the month of July and it was really oppressive to sleep in port with so much heat at night.
Finally, this is a high value trip and we feel that we should have received better attention from MeleTravels, when we exposed the problems we encountered, they were all just a bunch of baloney without taking any blame.
