What do we do?
Now you can book boat rental in Croatia with all arrangements in place in the all-inclusive "Crewed" mode which you can see in later tabs. In this navigation mode you don't have to worry about anything and we take care of all the logistics of the trip so that you have a great time.
You and your group can also opt for the charter of a sailing boat or catamaran in the «Bareboat (boat only + skipper if necessary). In this mode, you will have to manage the logistics of the trip at the destination with our instructions.
The "Bareboat" is the most widespread sailing for private groups with a smaller budget, being more economical than the "Crewed" sailing.
When you choose to charter a boat in "Bareboat" mode you hire a single service and not an organised tour with the local end-supplier who owns the vessel.
In this type of booking, the agencies are not the direct organisers of the trip, but rather mediators between the final supplier and you.
Even so, we will accompany you by the hand to the end of the journey as if we were you, and we will give you support throughout the booking process and during the days of the trip:

- Inform you about details of all expenditure you are going to have at your destination to avoid surprises.

Highlights
Town of Korcula
Arriving from afar by sea, you will marvel at the idyllic setting of this beautiful town. The majestic mountains in front of you, the defensive towers and the remains of the city walls are breathtaking.
Surrounded by imposing defensive battlements, this coastal citadel exudes history, with its marble streets and Renaissance and Gothic buildings. Its very presence deterred pirates from approaching the town.
The historical centre of Trogir
A visit to the tiny town of Trogir (formerly Trau) is a must on any route through Croatia. With its winding streets surrounded by medieval walls, its promenade lined with bars, cafes and luxury yachts in summer, it's a beautifully situated town.
The city of Trogir stands out among Croatian cities for its culture in the profusion of Romanesque and Renaissance buildings from the Venetian period; for this and for its magnificent cathedral, the Cathedral of St. Lawrence, which was declared a Unesco World Heritage Site in 1997.
Blaca Monastery on the island of Brac
You will disembark at Cala Blaca to begin the ascent to the monastery. A beautiful path leads up to the mountain where it is perched, a 45-minute walk. This 16th century Franciscan monastery is located on the southern coast of Brac, near the villages of Milna and Bol.
The monastery is lost in the middle of nature and is now a museum. When you arrive, the people in charge will be happy to give you a tour and show you the history of the whole complex. A visit of great interest.
The monastery is not visited every week due to the weather.
Stari Grad, island of Hvar
Wandering through the narrow streets and picturesque squares of Stari Grad will take you back in time. Walking along the promenade and gazing at the scenery is a privilege. It is a town with a lot of charm.
Stari Grad is the oldest town in Croatia. The Greeks arrived in 384 b.c. and established a settlement called Pharos in the beginning. Its remains show us the true history of the island of Hvar.
Situated in a privileged narrow inlet that gives it great protection, it was and still is a very popular port for sailors in the area. This place is not visited every week due to the weather.
Mljet National Park
Discover the lakes of Mljet National Park by cycling or hiking. The island is an untouched oasis of tranquillity that, according to legend, bewitched Odysseus for seven years, which he surely never regretted for a second.
Of all the Croatian islands, Mljet is one of the greenest. Much of it is forested and the rest is dotted with fields, vineyards and small villages. The northwestern half is part of the Mljet National Park, where the lush vegetation, pine forests and spectacular saltwater lakes are extremely bucolic.
Town of Vis
The village of Vis is the most important village on the island of Vis. It is located at the bottom of a large bay, where it offers great shelter. This is one of the reasons why it is so popular for boats to come here.
The tranquillity that reigns on the island of Vis is hard to find nowadays, far from the hustle and bustle of the tourist circuits. A stroll along the path around the bay is very pleasant. It leads to the monastery of Sant Jeronimo, and further on to the fortress of Sant George, where there is a nice view and now a restaurant.
Saplun Beach (Lastovo Nature Park)
Few words suffice to describe this remote bay in the middle of the Lastovo Nature Park. This inlet of crystal-clear waters ends in another of Croatia's most beautiful beaches, completely unspoilt, sandy and rocky, surrounded by forest, which gives it a wild air like few others.
It is one of the best anchorages of the week. Make the most of it!
Village of Komiza
Many Croats and non-Croats alike love the unsophisticated and somewhat bohemian atmosphere of Komiza.
On the west coast, at the foot of Mount Hum, is Komiza. A captivating little village nestling in a large bay. Narrow lanes of brown 17th century houses wind up from the harbour, used by fishermen since the 12th century.
To the east of the town is a 17th-century church on the site of a Benedictine monastery, and at the tip of the main quay stands a Renaissance citadel from 1585, the Kastel.
Proizd Island
Only a small strait separates the island of Proizd from the western part of the island of Korcula. This small, unspoilt island has some of the most beautiful waters for dozens of miles. Bathing on its remote and unspoilt beaches is a luxury.
Diocletian's Palace and the medieval city of Split
Opposite the harbour, Diocletian's Palace is one of the most important Roman ruins in Croatia today.
Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Its narrow streets hide passageways and courtyards, some of them deserted and eerie, others with thundering music, bars and cafés. While the neighbours hang their laundry in the windows, the kids play football between the old walls and the grandmothers lean out on the balcony to see what is going on below.
It should be noted that you will not visit Split during sailing itinerary. You can visit it on the day of arrival or on the way back at the end of the week before taking the plane, highly recommended.
Town of Hvar
The town of Hvar is one of those places you can't miss. Its old buildings with marble streets, its castle on top and the splendid Pakleni islands in front of it, make a scene that is hard to beat. At night it also enjoys one of the best atmospheres in the area.

Sailing
Sailing in Croatia among an endless of islands is a marvel. Its mid-morning breezes allow for relaxing sailing trips, the most pleasurable of sailings.
You will learn many concepts of sailing if you are interested. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.
Snorkel
Snorkelling from the boat is one of the highlights of the trip. You can do this activity at any time of the day.
Part of the attraction of the Croatian islands is the clarity of their turquoise waters and the mysterious shipwrecks hidden on the seabed.
Bicycle
The area of the Dalmatian Islands is very attractive for cycling. Its charming villages, preserved nature, mountains and stunning coastline lend themselves to cycling.
Trekking
You can explore the areas where we stop with the boat on foot. There is nothing more satisfying than anchoring in a hidden bay, disembarking ashore, and going into the interior of the island following the path that leads to the nearest hill. You can even go to a viewpoint to watch the sunset from above. Remember to take a photograph of our beautiful sailing boat 🙂
Swimming
All you have to do is put on your swimming costume and jump off our sailboat. The early morning swim is the most enjoyable of the day.
Cultural Visits
Discovering the fishing villages of these islands by boat is the best way to do it like in the old days.
The history of the Dalmatian islands is impressive. The historic centres of the coastal villages are a delight, and we will have time to visit them during your charter week.

Charter your sailing yacht or catamaran in the northern part of Croatia and sail in one of the most exclusive areas you can find today.
The small number of boats in the area allows you to find places where you will be practically alone. If you like an alternative holiday, if you are looking for peace and quiet, you are in the right place.
Almost the entire route takes you through national parks. These include the Telascica nature park, where at times you'll think you're in a lake and not the sea. And the majestic Kornati Islands National Park, with its lunar landscapes, where you will see the best sunsets in a long time. You will fall in love with the scenery.
Suitable sailing bases are located along coast from Zadar to Trogir.
Highlights:

- Almost the entire area is part of a national park.
- Good weather. Rarely any waves in the area.

Highlights
Kornati Islands National Park
An archipelago of 147 mainly uninhabited islands, islets and reefs, some of which are part of the Kornati Islands National Park.
The Kornati Islands National Park covers 69 km2 and is the largest and most compact archipelago in Croatia and the Adriatic Sea. Many have dreamed of sailing through its inhospitable landscape, an almost lunar landscape, a place worth seeing once in a lifetime.
The biggest village is Vrulje, although there are only 10 or 12 houses, with its pier and of course its tavern, where you can have a beer.
Town of Skradin
Skradin is a small picturesque village on the edge of the Krka National Park in a fantastic location on the banks of the Krka River, several miles inland. It is very exciting to get here by sailboat after sailing up the river for several miles.
A stroll through its narrow streets is a must and a dinner in its restaurants is also very tempting.
Beaches Kornati Islands
The landscapes found within the archipelago of the Kornati Islands are astonishing to say the least. Wild places, far from any kind of civilisation, and only accessible by boat. Each corner has its own particular beauty.
The beaches are no less, and there are some real treasures to be found. Beaches far from the hustle and bustle, with clean waters... we can't ask for more.
Telascica Natural Park
The Telascica Nature Park, with its magnificent protected azure-blue waters, is one of the largest, most beautiful and least spoiled natural harbours in the Adriatic Sea.
It is a must for sailing boats and catamarans. A night at anchor in these waters, surrounded by nature in its purest state, is a good rest for a day full of activities.
Next to Mir Bay is the saltwater, mud-bottomed Mir Lake. It is fed by underground channels that cross the limestone to the sea and is surrounded by pine forests. Its waters are much warmer than those of the sea. As with mud in unusual places, the mud here is supposed to be very good for the skin.
Primosten
Primosten is the quintessential Croatian picture-postcard village. Located on a peninsula, with its stone houses crammed between narrow streets and surrounded by turquoise blue waters.
A sunset stroll from the sailing boat is a must. And a dinner in one of the many restaurants with their terraces by the sea is wonderful. We won't miss it.
Kornati Islands Monument
The contour and surface of some of these islands is bare, without trees, due to the effect of the wind in winter. This gives it an unusual contour and is very grateful for its peculiarity.
Any monument, church or hermitage can be seen in the distance. The church of Tarac is one of the most famous in the area and we will try to stop and let you explore its surroundings.
Village of Sali
Sali is the administrative and municipal centre of the island of Dugi Otok. Like all the islands in this area, it is small in size and has little infrastructure development. This gives it a very relaxed atmosphere, without mass tourism.
Strolling through its streets at sunset is very pleasant, with its peaceful atmosphere. Its culinary offer is also very tempting.
Sibenik
Sibenik has fascinating sights, new restaurants and bars that open every year. Everything oozes with vital energy.
But the real attraction of the Croatian town of Sibenik has not changed for centuries: its magnificent medieval quarter consisting of a stone labyrinth with steep alleys, ancient chapels, the Cathedral of St. James and the Town Hall, a beautiful Renaissance ensemble. A visit is a must if you have the time.
Krka National Park
If you want to alternate culture with nature, you should also visit the 72.5 km long Krka River, which stretches from the western part of the Dinaric mountain range to the sea near Sibenik. This place, full of nature, with the river and its magnificent waterfalls, defines the landscape of the Sibenik-Knin region and is the centre of the Krkaen River National Park.

It is very interesting to see the way of life of the locals in the small coastal villages we come across.
On the current journey you have interesting visits to the towns of Skradin, Sibenik, Primosten and Sali. All of them have a special charm.
ALL INCLUSIVE
Crewed mode
Charter an all-inclusive yacht charter in Croatia and forget about dealing with suppliers at destination Croatian locals. It will always be more difficult to communicate with them.
In "Crewed, all-inclusive" mode we are direct organisers and do not delegate to third parties. We use our own crew on the voyages and are directly responsible for the smooth running of the voyages.
At Mêlée Travels we offer "Crewed" product from any base located in Croatia with available fleet.
In the "Crewed" mode, you pay a closed price which includes the boat rental with skipper as compulsory service.
There are also other optional services, such as the cook, half-board or aquatic equipment.
The remaining expenses, such as fuel, moorings and food, among the most significant, are paid at destination. This way you get pay only the exact amount consumed.
A catamaran charter in Croatia works particularly well when a crew of skipper and cook have to be accommodated on board. Its large dimensions make it possible to accommodate crew and passengers on board without any problem.
The sailing yacht charter, however, it can be a good option for smaller groups. Good option if you like sailing. Or if you are interested in reducing the cost per person compared to the catamaran.
Prices vary widely and depend largely on the category of ship and dates of travel. The most common is to pay from 1000 €/pax onwards, although this may vary depending on the extras you want to include.
In all cases you can choose what you do or do not want to include in your trip. Normally:

Dates
Yacht charters in Croatia are for a minimum duration of one week and can be for more weeks, provided that 7-day multiple. From Saturday to Saturday throughout the season.
Only outside of the summer season do the providers allow boats to be chartered for single days, not multiple days of 7. March, April, October, November, for example.
The embarkation time is Saturday at 16-18h in the afternoon and you disembark the next Saturday at 9h at the latest. Spending the last night of the yacht charter trip from Friday to Saturday already moored in port.
If you are a private group you can embark and disembark whenever you want, as long as you are within your charter week.
Methods of payment
At the time of booking you have to pay 50% of the boat charter price. The remaining 50% is to be paid one month before the date of embarkation.
Some providers allow a 40% on booking and a 60% one month prior to boarding, but this is not common.
In COVID times, some suppliers are allowing a 20% at booking and an 80% one month prior to shipment.
The rest of the requested extras you pay for on arrival, although some suppliers allow you to pay for them in advance as well:
- Skipper.
- Cook.
- Aquatic equipment such as snorkelling equipment, paddle surf boards.
- Any other extra you have ordered.
- The costs of fuel, moorings and food you pay for them during the week.
- Suppliers require a security deposit to proceed with the rental of the boat. The client, i.e. you, must pay a deposit to cover any possible damages. The most common: breakage of furniture, loss of equipment at sea and blockage of toilets.
All other hypothetical damage to the boat, such as damage to the hull, sails, rigging or navigation equipment, shall be borne by the skipper.

Embarkation / Disembarkation
The marinas used as embarkation and disembarkation bases for both routes are located between Zadar and Split. The best way to get there from Spain is to fly to Split in most cases, and in a few other cases to Zadar:
Central Dalmatian Islands:
- Marina ACI Split. In the city of Split itself. 15 km from Split Airport.
- Marina Kastela. 7 km from the airport.
- Marina ACI Trogir. In the town of Trogir. 10 km from the airport.
- Marina SCT Trogir. In the town of Trogir. 10 km from the airport.
- Marina Baotic. In the vicinity of the town of Trogir. 10 km from the airport.
Central Dalmatian Islands-North:
- Marina Tankerkomerc Zadar. In the town of Zadar. 12 km from Zadar airport and 129 km from Split airport.
- Marina Kornati. In the village of Biograd Na Moru. 28 km from Zadar airport and 108 km from Split airport.
- Sukosan Marina. In the village of Sukosan. 10 km from Zadar airport and 125 km from Split airport.
Flights
Split has better connections with Spain and European capitals than Zadar.
Zadar is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Zadar (ZAD), flights with 1 stopover.
- Madrid (MAD) - Zadar (ZAD), flights with 1 stopover.
The best option for arriving on time for boarding on Saturday is to fly on Fridays with a stopover.
- Zadar (ZAD) - Barcelona (BCN), flights with 1 stopover.
- Zadar (ZAD) - Madrid (MAD), flights with 1 stopover.
Split is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Split (SPU), direct flights almost every day in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Split (SPU), direct flights almost every day in high season.
- Split (SPU) - Barcelona (BCN), daily in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Split (SPU), some days in high season. Fewer flights in June and September.
Dubrovnik is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Dubrovnik (DBV) , almost every day in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Dubrovnik (DBV) , almost every day in high season.
- Dubrovnik (DBV) - Barcelona (BCN), almost every day in high season.
- Dubrovnik (DBV) - Madrid (MAD), almost every day in high season.
Alternatives to reduce the cost of flights
- On Fridays there are usually flights from Barcelona to Split. It is the best alternative to pay less on the flight. We took the opportunity to spend a night in Split and visit the old town. Not to be missed.
- If you fly on weekdays and not on a Saturday, ticket prices can drop significantly.
Other means of communication from Split are by sea with the Jadrolinija ferry lines:
- Split can be reached from Ancona (Italy), 8h.
- Split is connected by ferry with Dubrovnik to the south (9h30m.).
- With Rijeka to the north (12h.).
Dubrovnik and Split are connected by road by a comfortable 4-hour all-day bus service.
Our recommendation if you have a few more days of travel, about 10 days, is:
- Travel to Zagreb or Dubrovnik by plane, visits of their historical centres.
- Possible visit to Plitvice National Park and its waterfalls.
- Bus to Split 4:30h.
- 1 week sailing trip to the Dalmatian Islands.
- Visit Split and surroundings.
- Return to the mainland from Split or Dubrovnik.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Expenses during the voyage
Expenses you can expect on such a trip are around 200 euros per person, but this is relative and depends on you:
- Transport, bus or taxi on the first day.
- Restaurants during the crossing. Usually 2 or 3 times.
- Souvenirs.
- Entrance to parks (approx. 25 euros).
- Taxi boats. It can go from 0 to 20 euros per person.
- Extra activities, cycling (10 euros).
Credit cards are not accepted in some restaurants.
Currency exchange
In Croatia the currency is already the euro as of 1 January 2023.
Telephone and internet
- Most telephone companies have already incorporated in their tariffs the consumption of calls and data abroad in the European Community at no additional cost. If your company has not done so, check with them before travelling in order to obtain a foreign consumption module.
- We recommend that you always go abroad with your internet data connected. This gives you a lot of security so that you don't get lost at any time.
- Data coverage on board during the crossing is not always guaranteed and you will not always enjoy 4G or 5G on your phone.
Medical expenses
The booking of a sailing yacht or catamaran in Croatia does not include travel insurance to cover hypothetical medical expenses at the destination. Please contact us to request one.
If you do not want to take out travel insurance or if you do not have a private health insurance company to cover your medical expenses at your destination, you can apply for a European Health Insurance Card. As Croatia is already a European country, you are covered. You can order it online and it takes a week to arrive by post.

The trip itself has been good, for the places we have been able to enjoy and certainly for the company, but we would not repeat with this company, we had chosen precisely this one because of the comments and in our case they have not been adjusted to reality.
- The food was scarce, it had the feeling of being in camps, with a daily pasta menu with very basic preparations, and the breakfasts were also very scarce. Luckily in port we were buying our own bread and pastries to be able to have a good breakfast. We know that the cook who usually does the crossing failed and the new one was not used to these tasks on a ship, but I consider that the passengers should not pay for these inconveniences. The same goes for the mess and lack of cleanliness in the galley. I would like to thank Lucia and Lourdes, two crew members who took charge of the galley and solved a large part of the problem.
- The whole week without air conditioning due to a breakdown. We are in the month of July and it was really oppressive to sleep in port with so much heat at night.
Finally, this is a high value trip and we feel that we should have received better attention from MeleTravels, when we exposed the problems we encountered, they were all just a bunch of baloney without taking any blame.
