Tour

Day 1: FIRST NIGHT TAVOLARA ISLAND
We cast off around 17h from the base in Olbia, with the sailboat at sea. We have checked that everything is ready to set sail.
The island of Tavolara is just a stone's throw away, we are there in 1h:30m. Anchoring and spending the night on its southernmost beach with views of the majestic mountain of Punta Canone is a must.

Day 2: EMERALD COAST BEACHES
Today we sail along the Emerald Coast. We weigh anchor and head north. We have about 2 hours to reach the famous Emerald Coast with its beautiful beaches.
The first stop is the well-known beach of Capriccioli. Its waters are marvellous. Here we have lunch.
Later we set course for the Maddalena archipelago. We will look for a safe anchorage for the night.
We are preparing to attack the Strait of Bonifacio tomorrow, and thus cross to Corsica. The sooner we do this, the better for the progress of the trip. Although we depend on the weather. We are looking for the best winds to do so.

Day 3: BONIFACIO STRAIT
With the weather well studied, we set off at the best time to have a good sailing voyage to Corsica. Today we cross the Strait of Bonifacio.
After an exciting sailing trip, we arrived at the village of Bonifacio in Corsica and moored the yacht. Its cliff-top village is charming.
We don't waste a minute and leave the boat to explore the area.

Day 4: DEPARTING FROM BONIFACIO TO THE SOUTH
The visit to Bonifacio was fantastic. You bought all the souvenirs that were left in the shop for the family 😁.
Once again, with the weather in mind, we will cross the Strait of Bonifacio. But this time heading south, towards Sardinia on the way back. On the way we will try to stop at the paradisiacal anchorages of the islands of Razzoli and Cavallo.
It was a beautiful sailing trip. We reached the Maddalena archipelago. We look for one of its coves where we can have a relaxing lunch.
Today we spend the night in the village of La Maddalena. We have to refuel with water. We go down for dinner in one of its appetising restaurants.

Day 5: ARCHIPIÉLAGO DE LA MADDALENA
Today in the morning you have time to rent a bike or scooter to visit the island of Maddalena and Caprera, linked by road. A beautiful excursion not to be missed.
We had a great time with the bike going round and round. We have refuelled with water and food until the end of the trip. This is the last day we will touch land before the end of the trip.
We set sail from Maddalena. We have a couple of days to fully explore this fantastic archipelago of unspoilt islands and 5-star beaches. We want to see as many places as possible.
Depending on the wind, we look for a cove on the leeward side to spend the night.

Day 6: ARCHIPIÉLAGO DE LA MADDALENA
You will love the anchorages of these islands. Unspoilt coves, white sand, transparent waters. Waking up in this scenery is brutal. Some of the beaches are truly postcard-perfect.
We've made a note of the most beautiful beaches. We go one after the other so as not to miss any of them. Today we will anchor at Caprera. The neighbouring island of La Maddalena.

Day 7: COSTA ESMERALDA BEACHES
Today we must say goodbye to the Maddalena archipelago. It has been a pleasure to get to know such beautiful places. We head south back to the marina in Olbia.
On the way we stop at one of the best beaches of Costa Smeralda, Pevero Bay. A last dip in the sea and then we will arrive at marina Olbia in the late afternoon.
It has been an amazing trip and we have had a lot of experiences. We disembark the next day at 9am. This is the end of your adventure on board.
We remind you that the proposed itinerary is subject to weather conditions in the area and at the time. The skipper may change the route for the safety of the passengers and the boat.
We will also be able to modify the mooring points fixed in the ship's itinerary due to problems with port bookings.
Activities

Sailing
Sailing in the north of Sardinia is very good. Westerly winds sailing downwind ensure good sailing in calm seas.
During the journey, there are numerous sailing manoeuvres and steering of the boat. You can participate whenever you feel like it and learn the basics of sailing. Your skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.

Snorkel
The waters around the Maddalena Archipelago National Park are full of life and it is easy to spot underwater fauna just by snorkelling.
One of the advantages of travelling to Sardinia by sailboat is that you will have the whole day to snorkel. The more observant among you are sure to spot some of the local species.

Trekking
The excursions on the islands belonging to the Maddalena archipelago are great for disembarking on the beach and doing a little trekking inland.
Short walks along the beach at sunset are a great way to round off a busy day on the boat.

Swimming
The early morning swim is the most pleasurable of the day, as well as a luxury available to few. All you have to do is put on your swimming costume and jump off your boat.

Bicycle
The national park of the Maddalena archipelago is ideal for cycling.
Get your legs ready to cycle along the paths of the island of Maddelene and Caprera. Cycling them allows you to admire all their beauty slowly.

Cultural visits
The most beautiful village of the trip is Bonifacio, on the southernmost coast of Corsica.
A visit to the old town on top of the cliffs is a must. A pleasant dinner in one of its restaurants is the best reward after crossing the Strait of Bonifacio.
Highlights

Village of Bonifacio
Bonifacio is located in the southernmost part of Corsica. Its privileged location overlooking the strait between Corsica and Sardinia makes it special. It is one of the most beautiful cities of Corsica.
It is divided into two parts. The lower part. With the marina and the moored boats, full of cafés and terraces where you can enjoy your leisure time.
And the upper part. Where the old town is located, with its old houses and narrow streets climbing up to the top of the cliffs outlined by the wind.

Maddalena Archipelago National Park
The national park of the Maddalena archipelago is composed of 60 islands, islets and rocks. The first national park in Sardinia, created in 1996.
Only the island of Maddalena is inhabited with a stable population. It is linked to the neighbouring island of Caprera by a wooden bridge.
An area of great environmental interest due to the quality of its waters. Shallow waters. That together with its nature make a paradisiacal setting that is hard to beat.
Its beaches are considered the best in Sardinia and among the best in the Mediterranean.

Emerald Coast
Located on the north-east coast of Sardinia. A glamorous area where many wealthy people have set up their holiday base. Luxury villas, golf courses, marinas and dream beaches are just some of the things you can find in Costa Smeralda.
Visiting the Emerald Coast by sailboat we will reach the most famous beaches. Capriccioli and Grande Pevero are some of them. We will not miss them from our boat.

Tavolara Island
The island of Tavolara is located on the north-eastern coast of Sardinia, off the Gulf of Olbia, just 10 miles from the town of Olbia.
This prominent crag is visible from afar, with its Cannone Point at its highest point of 564 metres.
From here there are panoramic views of the surrounding countryside, the entire emerald coast and even the Strait of Bonifacio.

Maddalena Village
La Maddalena is the only stable village in the Maddalena archipelago. It was founded in 1770. A place disputed in ancient times for its strategic value, controlling the Strait of Bonifacio, and its granite stone.
Its economy is currently based on tourism. The most important activities are the sale of local crafts and local products.
A colourful and charming village, very pleasant to stroll in the evening along its harbour and narrow streets.

PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Expenses during the voyage

Expected expenses for a one-week trip can be around 100 euros per person, but this is relative and depends on the traveller:
- Transport, bus or taxi on the first day.
- Restaurants during the week. At least 3 dinners out.
- Souvenirs.
- Extra activities. 1 day scooter or car rental in the Maddalena.
Credit cards are accepted in most shops and restaurants.
Currency exchange

Sardinia belongs to Italy and the currency is the Euro. You can either bring euros from home or withdraw them from cash machines. If you withdraw from ATMs, banks charge between 4% and 5% commission.
Before travelling, it is advisable to visit your bank to confirm that your credit card will work in the country. Also ask about the commission for withdrawals from ATMs abroad.
Telephone and internet

- Since June 2017, the vast majority of phone companies have incorporated roaming (data consumption and calls outside Spain) in our tariffs. Now there is no extra cost for consuming data or minutes of our tariffs outside the Spanish territory in a number of countries of the European Union, Italy being one of them.
- We recommend that you always go abroad with your internet data connected. This will give you a lot of security so that you will not get lost at any time.
- Coverage during the route is not always guaranteed and you will not always enjoy 4G or 5G, only normal speed.
Medical expenses

- The trip to Sardinia by sailboat does not include travel insurance to cover hypothetical medical expenses at the destination. Please contact us to request one.
- If you are not covered for medical expenses at your destination, you can also apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). You can order it online and it takes a week to arrive by post.

The trip has been a fantastic experience, combining sailing and discovering wonderful beaches and bays during the day with visits to the cities in the afternoons and evenings (Vis, Hvar, Korcula, Stari Grad, Split and Trogir). All this under the guidance of our wonderful skipper, Pave.
We would like to thank Joan Nogueron, from the Melee Travels Agency, for his organisation, advice and tips to make this trip a success.
Thank you for everything, we will surely repeat in another destination.
- The food was scarce, it had the feeling of being in camps, with a daily pasta menu with very basic preparations, and the breakfasts were also very scarce. Luckily in port we were buying our own bread and pastries to be able to have a good breakfast. We know that the cook who usually does the crossing failed and the new one was not used to these tasks on a ship, but I consider that the passengers should not pay for these inconveniences. The same goes for the mess and lack of cleanliness in the galley. I would like to thank Lucia and Lourdes, two crew members who took charge of the galley and solved a large part of the problem.
- The whole week without air conditioning due to a breakdown. We are in the month of July and it was really oppressive to sleep in port with so much heat at night.
Finally, this is a high value trip and we feel that we should have received better attention from MeleTravels, when we exposed the problems we encountered, they were all just a bunch of baloney without taking any blame.
gives you a lot of security and is a professional
And Anita spoiled us a lot with her dishes and her company, and the group was super.
And the journey both at sea and on land
It was short, what a feeling of freedom
I recommend it 💯
