Tour to Croatia Zagreb-Dubrovnik is a very complete tour in which you will visit the most important traditional Croatian cultural hotspots. It is made up of visits to emblematic villages and natural parks, together with an exciting catamaran trip between the islands that will not leave you indifferent.
Combining one week by land and one week by sea you can visit, sail, swim, relax, learn... a very special experience indeed.
A very balanced tour that you won't miss any of Croatia's most important sights. We organise all accommodation, sightseeing and transport bookings for you, along with a very detailed itinerary so as not to lose you.

This tour of Croatia includes a week-long catamaran crossing of the Central Dalmatian Islands in its itinerary, and also includes, as a highlight, a visit to the Plitvice Lakes National Parka unique natural space.
Then, visits to Zagreb, Split, Trogirwith its beautiful historic centres are also very interesting. As well as the excursion to the waterfalls of the Krka National Parkwhich will appeal to nature enthusiasts.

How it works
Week by land:
- On this tour of Croatia you will group crossing week on the catamaran. But during the week on land you move on your own, not in an organised group. With a very detailed itinerary and maps provided by us so you won't get lost.
- Hotels chosen on the basis of performance and locationThe hotel is always practical in terms of mobility in the area.
- During the tour, we use private transports for short distances and public transport for long distances. Long distances are made on public buses, fast and comfortable buses, always with your seat assigned on your ticket.
Week at sea, crossing:
- The Croatia cruise is led by a skipper who is in charge of steering the boat and showing you the activities proposed during the week of sailing.
It is important to note that there is no guide on board for the visits, nor is there a cook (meals are taken in groups, a very common practice on ships of this type).
- We try to plan an ambitious itinerary because we like to make the most of the areas where we sail. We will sail a few extra miles so as not to miss anything in the Dalmatian Islands. We guarantee to visit the most interesting places in the area.
The route is subject to change due to weather conditions and mooring reservation problems. The safety of the boat and passengers always comes first.
- You will live the experience of travelling around Croatia by catamaran with other people. You will share the trip with people who are just as keen to enjoy themselves as you are. Each pair of passengers will stay in their own cabin with private or shared bathroom.
- You will learn the concepts of sailing. You will have the opportunity to steer the boat and take part in the sailing manoeuvres on board, if you are interested of course. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.
- The final price is fixed, it does not vary at all.. No matter what fuel, port taxes or food you consume at the end of the trip. You will pay nothing more.
- The cook is included. You will not have to cook. You do not have to buy food on arrival, nor during the week.. This way, you will have much more time during the week to enjoy yourselves. You will also be able to order any type of food in advance.
- Travel itinerary may vary depending on external factors such as weather and availability of moorings. Unlike larger vessels, where the itinerary is fixed.

The fact that I was born on an island with a long seafaring tradition, the beautiful Croatian island of Vis, made it possible for me to be in love with sailing and the sea from an early age. This made it possible for me to have been in love with sailing and the sea since I was a child.
I hope to be able to pass on to you all that I have learnt about the sea and my homeland during these 7 days together on board. We are going to have a great time 🙂

Day 1: ARRIVAL IN ZAGREB
The tour to Croatia starts with your arrival in the city of Zagreb on Monday. You will visit the Croatian capital for the whole day.
This small Croatian capital is made for wandering the streets, sitting in a busy café, visiting museums and galleries and enjoying the theatres, museums and cinemas. A very pleasant visit. Overnight in Zagreb.
Day 2: ZAGREB
Continue your visit to Zagreb. Overnight in Zagreb.
Day 3: PLITVICE LAKES NATIONAL PARK
Wednesday morning, you will depart by bus from Zagreb bus station to Plitvice Lakes National Park.
You arrive early in the morning at the hotel in Plitvice. You leave your things at the hotel and enter the Plitvice Lakes National Park. You visit the park for the whole day. You have to locate the main waterfalls in order not to miss any of them. Overnight in Plitvice.
Day 4: SPLIT AND ITS DIOCLECHIAN PALACE
Departure by bus on Thursday morning from Plitvice to Split. You will arrive at Split bus station at noon. The hotel is centrally located and within walking distance.
On Thursday afternoon you will visit the city of Split. Your Diocletian's Palace is one of the best preserved Roman ruins in the world and a UNESCO World Heritage Site, a marvel. Overnight in Split.
Day 5: KRKA AND SIBENIK NATIONAL PARK
On Friday you will take a guided tour of the Krka National Park and its waterfalls, together with the town of Sibenik. The tour starts in the morning and the meeting point is very close to the hotel.
This place, full of nature, with the river and its magnificent waterfalls, is a good place to get some fresh air. You should bring a swimming costume, as it is possible to swim in an area of the river and its waterfalls.
Day 6: TROUGH
Today, Saturday, you will embark in the afternoon. We recommend getting up early and leaving your luggage at the marina so that you can visit the town of Trogir. A small town with a special charm, also a Unesco heritage site. It is worth a visit of a couple of hours.
The overland circuit stops and gives way to the long-awaited crossing of the Dalmatian Islands.
You embark at around 18h in the evening.
Day 6 to 13: DALMATAS ISLANDS CROSSING
Day 1: FIRST NIGHT IN DRVENIK ISLANDS
Once the preparations were made and the boat was at sea, we set sail on Saturday after lunch between 16-18 hours. We head towards the lonely Drvenik islands, south of Drvenik Veli. Here we will anchor in a secluded cove for your first swim.
You begin to familiarise yourselves with the boat and to realise what a great adventure it is to make this sailing trip to Croatia.
Day 2: VISIT VIS ISLAND
After a hearty breakfast and a morning swim, we head south to the island of Vis, one of the most remote islands in central Dalmatia. A place of peace and tranquillity, ideal for relaxation.
We will stop at one of the beautiful coves in the north for lunch and to snorkel in the crystal clear waters.
Later we will reach the beautiful village of Vis, located in the wide bay of Vis. Strolling along the promenade around the bay is very pleasant. You disembark for a visit. The village is small, so we also recommend that you take a taxi (the only one on the island) to visit the other village on the island, Komiza, 15 minutes away by road.
Komiza is also very captivating, perched at the foot of Mount Hum with an unsophisticated and somewhat bohemian atmosphere. We will spend the night moored in the bay of Vis.
Day 3: VISIT TO HVAR ISLAND
We are up early today. There is a lot to do and see. We set course for the island of Hvar, specifically to its main town, Hvar, where we disembark.
We have the whole day to explore the westernmost part of the island, with two of the most beautiful villages in Dalmatia, Hvar and Stari Grad. The circular route from Hvar to Stari Grad has some great views.
Renting a car is the most convenient. A scooter is also highly recommended. Otherwise a taxi is the most convenient.
In the evening we return to the boat, which will be waiting for you at the same place. We hop off the island to Korcula, we have a 2 hour crossing to the anchorage. We arrive at sunset and there is still time for a swim.
Day 4: LASTOVO NATURAL PARK
First thing in the morning we move to the idyllic neighbouring islands of Proizd, half an hour's drive. We arrive at a cove where we will be alone, here we have breakfast like kings.
Later we head for the islands east of Lastovo in the Lastovo Nature Park, one of the most remote islands in Croatia. A place of peace and tranquillity. You have the whole afternoon to explore this place. A bike can be a good idea to explore it. One of the places where we have seen the most stars. You won't want to go to sleep, I assure you. Dinner on board.
Day 5: VISIT LEGENDARY CITY KORCULA
We set course for the small island of Saplun, where you enjoy paddle boarding in the calm turquoise blue waters.
After lunch we weighed anchor and headed for the town of Korcula, a legendary town if ever there was one. One of the highlights of the trip. You dine out.
Day 6: SCEDRO ISLAND AND HVAR
With some sadness we set off and leave behind us possibly one of the most beautiful villages we have seen in years. We head back to the island of Hvar. On the way we stop at the coves on the northwest coast of the Peljesac peninsula for a morning swim in the beautiful waters.
We continue on our way and stop now at the island of Scedro, a virtually untouched island in its entirety. We anchor in a cove in the south and have lunch here, a luxury.
At dusk we reach a beautiful bay on the island of Hvar, a bay for sailboats only, where a buoy awaits us. Dinner at its beachfront restaurant is the best way to celebrate what is turning out to be a memorable trip.
Day 7: SOLTA ISLAND AND ARRIVAL AT LA MARINA
In the morning we enjoy the place where we are, words are superfluous. We must now set course back to the marina.
Halfway we stop for lunch and a last swim in one of the fantastic coves in the south of the island of Solta. We arrive at the marina in the afternoon.
It has been a very special trip where we have seen and learned a lot of things. You disembark on Saturday at 9am. This is the end of your adventure on board.
Day 13: WALLED CITY OF DUBROVNIK
What a great week! We disembark with some regret in Trogir again, around 9h.
We take a private transfer to Split bus station. We board the bus to Dubrovnik. We arrive in Dubrovnik at noon. We still have time to visit the old town during the afternoon. Overnight in Dubrovnik.
Day 14: WALLED CITY OF DUBROVNIK
On Sunday you will continue the previous day's visit of Dubrovnik and its imposing city walls. A city that will transport you back to the Middle Ages with its medieval buildings.
On Sunday afternoon you take the plane back to your destination.
Although you can visit Dubrovnik in one day, if you have time you can extend your stay here by one day and fly back on Monday.
We remind you that the proposed itinerary is subject to weather conditions in the area and at the time. The skipper of the boat may change the route for safety reasons for the passengers and the boat.
We will also be able to modify the mooring points fixed in the vessel's itinerary due to problems with port bookings.
Both embarkation and disembarkation take place in the same place, Marina Trogir.
Activities
Sailing
Sailing through Croatia on a catamaran among a myriad of islands is a marvellous experience. Its mid-morning breezes allow for relaxing sailing trips, the most pleasant of sailings.
You will learn many concepts of sailing if you are interested. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.
Snorkel
Snorkelling from the boat is one of the highlights of the Croatia sailing cruise. You can do this activity at any time of the day.
Part of the attraction of the Croatian islands is the clarity of their turquoise waters and the mysterious shipwrecks hidden on the seabed.
Bicycle
You can explore the remote and lush Lastovo Nature Park and its lakes by bike, a privileged landscape. But you can also go on foot.
The area of the Dalmatian Islands is very attractive for cycling. Its charming villages, preserved nature, mountains and stunning coastline lend themselves to cycling.
Trekking
One of the highlights of the tour of Croatia is a visit to the natural area belonging to the Plitvice Lakes National Park. A fantastic place for hiking.
If you stray a little off the main roads you will find an endless number of very interesting and practically untrodden trails.

The Krka National Park also offers beautiful views of its waterfalls as you walk along its course.
Swimming
All you have to do is put on your swimming costume and jump off the catamaran. The early morning swim is the most enjoyable of the day.
Cultural Visits
The visit of the historical centres on this tour is a delight. Amongst others, the visit of Zagreb and its museums, Split and its imposing Diocletian's Palace, Trogir with its maze of narrow streets and Dubrovnik with its walled old town.
The history of the Dalmatian islands is impressive. During the crossing you will reach their fishing villages by boat, the best way to do it like in the old days. The cultural centres of the coastal villages are beautiful. You will have time to visit them during the crossing.
Highlights
City of Zagreb
Aesthetically, the Croatian city and capital, Zagreb, is a mixture of traditional Austro-Hungarian architecture and crude socialist structures, two elements that mark its personality. This small Croatian capital is made for wandering the streets, sitting in a busy café, visiting museums and galleries and enjoying the theatres, museums and cinemas.
Walled City of Dubrovnik
The city of Dubrovnik is, in a word, beautiful. For Lord Byron it was the "Jewel of the Adriatic".
This Croatian city leaves many speechless: its beauty is captivating and its setting sublime. Dubrovnik's memorable old town, enclosed by solid defensive walls, is the true jewel of the city, a sort of capsule that protects its baroque buildings.
Plitvice Lakes National Park
The Plitvice Lakes are among the most beautiful green spaces in Europe. This majestic and picturesque park is located about halfway between Zagreb and Zadar. Wooded hills surround magnificent turquoise-blue lakes connected by a series of waterfalls.
Several wooden paths and walkways wind along the shores of the lakes and over the roaring waters for 18 km. They are arguably the most beautiful set of lakes in Croatia. In 1979 Unesco declared this area a World Heritage Site.
Krka National Park
If you want to alternate culture with nature, you should also visit the 72.5 km long Krka River, which stretches from the western part of the Dinaric mountain range to the sea near Sibenik. This place, full of nature, with the river and its magnificent waterfalls, defines the landscape of the Sibenik-Knin region and is the centre of the Krkaen River National Park.
The historical centre of Trogir
A visit to the tiny town of Trogir (formerly Trau) is a must on any tour of Croatia.
With its winding streets surrounded by medieval walls, its promenade lined with bars, cafes and luxury yachts in summer, it is a beautifully situated town.
Lastovo Nature Park
In the Lastovo Nature Park you can enjoy nature in its purest form. Its beautiful deserted bays and rich turquoise-blue waters are the ideal setting if you arrive by boat from the sea.
Its gastronomic delights also make it the perfect place to disconnect from the hustle and bustle of modern life. A very remote place. It was named a natural park in 2006.
Town of Korcula
Arriving from afar by sea, you will marvel at the idyllic setting of this beautiful town. The sight of the majestic mountains in front, the defensive towers and the remains of the city walls is breathtaking.
Surrounded by imposing defensive battlements, this coastal citadel exudes history, with its marble streets and Renaissance and Gothic buildings. Its very presence deterred pirates from approaching the town.
Town of Sibenik
Sibenik has fascinating sights, new restaurants and bars that open every year. Everything oozes with vital energy.
But the real attraction of the Croatian town of Sibenik has not changed for centuries: its magnificent medieval quarter consisting of a stone labyrinth with steep alleys, ancient chapels, the Cathedral of St. James and the Town Hall, a beautiful Renaissance ensemble. A visit is a must if you have the time.
Town of Hvar
The town of Hvar is one of those places you can't miss. Its ancient buildings with their marble streets, together with its castle on top and the splendid Pakleni islands in front make a picture that is hard to beat.
At night it also enjoys one of the best atmospheres in the area.
Stari Grad, island of Hvar
Wandering through the narrow streets and picturesque squares of Stari Grad will take you back in time. Walking along the promenade and gazing at the scenery is a privilege. It is a town with a lot of charm.
Stari Grad is the oldest town in Croatia. The Greeks arrived in 384 b.c. and established a settlement called Pharos in the beginning. Its remains show us the true history of the island of Hvar.
Saplun Beach (Lastovo Nature Park)
Few words suffice to describe this remote cove in the middle of the Lastovo Nature Park. This cove of crystal-clear waters ends in another of Croatia's most beautiful beaches, completely unspoilt, sandy and rocky, surrounded by forest, which gives it a wild air like few others.
This is one of the best anchorages on your Croatian boat tour. Make the most of it!
Village of Komiza
Many Croats and non-Croats alike love the unsophisticated and somewhat bohemian atmosphere of Komiza.
On the west coast, at the foot of Mount Hum, is Komiza. A captivating little village nestling in a large bay. Narrow lanes of brown 17th century houses wind up from the harbour, used by fishermen since the 12th century.
Proizd Island
Only a small strait separates the island of Proizd from the western part of the island of Korcula. This small, unspoilt island has some of the most beautiful waters for dozens of miles. Bathing on its remote and unspoilt beaches is a luxury.
Diocletian's Palace and the medieval city of Split
Opposite the harbour, Diocletian's Palace is one of the most important Roman ruins in Croatia today.
Named a UNESCO World Heritage Site in 1979. Its narrow streets conceal passageways and courtyards, some deserted and eerie, others with thundering music, bars and cafés.
It should be noted that you will not visit Split during sailing itinerary. You can visit it on the day of arrival or on the way back at the end of the week before taking the plane, highly recommended.

The trips are 7 days long, departure every Saturday:
Boarding at 16-18h in the afternoon. Depending on external factors that we sometimes have no control over.
Disembarkation next Saturday at 9 a.m. maximum. Spending the last night of the crossing from Friday to Saturday already moored in port. You can also disembark on Friday around 19h at the marina, the same place where you embarked.
Exceptionally, and although the ship has already left the previous day, we will we allow boarding on Sunday morning around 10 am at the petrol station in Marina Baotic. This is only valid for passengers arriving the same Sunday morning on the flight from Barcelona. See section on how to get there.

This 3-star hotel is located just a few metres from the park entrance and the bus stop. The best hotel in the area in terms of location and facilities.
Hotel in Split
The hotel in Split is located in the place where we would all like to have our hotel. Just a few metres from the historic centre, but without being exactly inside, so that you can relax.
Hotel in Dubrovnik
This 3-star hotel is located in an attractive area in front of the port of Gruz. It offers very good facilities and breakfast. It is within walking distance of Dubrovnik's central bus station and the historic centre can be reached in 5 minutes by bus.
GET THERE
Getting to Zagreb
At the beginning of the tour, a private transfer will be waiting for you at Zagreb airport upon your arrival. It will take you to your hotel in the centre of Zagreb.
Embarkation / Disembarkation
Our main base is Marina Baotic, in the town of Trogir, 10 km from Split airport. This base is one of the most important yachting bases in the area if you want to start a sailing trip to Croatia.
From this point you can visit both the southern and northern islands.
Aircraft
Zagreb is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Zagreb (ZAG) , Tuesday, Thursday, Saturday and Sunday there are direct flights in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Zagreb (ZAG) , direct flights almost every day in high season.
Dubrovnik is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Dubrovnik (DBV) , daily in high season.

Split is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Split (SPU), daily in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Split (SPU), some days in high season. Fewer flights in June and September.
- Split (SPU) - Barcelona (BCN), daily in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Split (SPU), some days in high season. Fewer flights in June and September.
Zadar is also connected to Spain. It is 1:30h away by road.
- Barcelona (BCN) - Zadar (ZAD) , flights with 1 stopover.
- Madrid (MAD) - Zadar (ZAD) , flights with 1 stopover.
Alternatives to reduce the cost of flights
- There is direct flights to Zagreb from Barcelona and Madrid during the week quite cheap.
- On Mondays there are direct flights from Dubrovnik to Barcelona and Madrid cheaper than at the weekend.
- On Fridays there are flights from Barcelona to Split at 8.15am. This is the best alternative to pay less for the flight. We took the opportunity to spend a night in Split and visit the old town. Not to be missed.
- On Sundays there is a flight arriving in Split at 8.15am from Barcelona. It is much cheaper than the Saturday flight. All passengers arriving on this flight are picked up.
- If you fly on weekdays and not on a Saturday, ticket prices can drop significantly.
There is communication between Dubrovnik and Split by road by comfortable buses all day long, 4h. Contact us for booking.
Other transport
Other means of communication from Split are by sea with the Jadrolinija ferry lines:
- You can reach Split from Ancona (Italy), 8h.
- Split is connected by ferry with Dubrovnik to the south (9h30m.).
- With Rijeka to the north (12h.).
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Expenses during the voyage
The expenses you can expect on the crossing are around 125 euros per person, but this is relative and depends on you:
- Transport, bus or taxi on the first day.
- Restaurants during the crossing. Usually 2 or 3 times.
- Souvenirs.
- Entrance to parks (approx. 25 euros).
- Taxi boats. It can go from 0 to 20 euros per person.
- Extra activities, cycling (10 euros).
Euros are accepted in some places but not on some islands. Credit cards are also not accepted in some restaurants.
Currency exchange
The currency in Croatia is the kuna, not the euro. So you will have to change currency.
The options are as follows:
- If you bring euros from Spain and want to change them, the most expensive place to change them is obviously at the airport, so we recommend changing a small amount, just enough for the bus or taxi fare. The best exchange is at banks or post offices (Postas), although they are not open on Saturday afternoons or Sundays. You can also find an acceptable exchange rate at some bureaux de change.
- If you don't bring euros from Spain, which is the most convenient option, you should withdraw Kunas directly from ATMs, although the exchange rate will be a little more expensive. Banks normally charge a 4-5% commission with a minimum of 4 euros, although there are banks that charge less.
We recommend that you ask your bank in Spain about the commission. We also recommend that you check with your bank to make sure that your card will work at ATMs at your destination.
- A last option is to exchange and bring Kunas from Spain, but we do not recommend it. The exchange rate that Spanish banks give us is ridiculous for this currency.
Telephone and internet
- Most telephone companies have already incorporated in their tariffs the consumption of calls and data abroad in the European Community at no additional cost. If your company has not done so, check with them before travelling in order to obtain a foreign consumption module.
- We recommend that you always go abroad with your internet data connected. This gives you a lot of security so that you don't get lost at any time.
- Data coverage during the crossing is not always guaranteed and you will not always enjoy 3G or 4G on your phone, only normal speed.
Medical expenses
- The trip does not include travel insurance to cover possible medical expenses at the destination. Please contact us to request one.
- If you do not want to take out travel insurance or if you do not have a private health insurance company to cover your medical expenses at your destination, you can apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). As Croatia is already a European country you are covered. You can order it online and it takes a week to arrive by post.

The trip itself has been good, for the places we have been able to enjoy and without a doubt for the company, but we would not repeat with this company, we had chosen precisely this one based on the comments and in our case they have not adjusted to reality.
- Poor food, it had the feeling of being in a camp, with a daily pasta menu with very basic preparations, the breakfasts were also very scarce. Luckily in port we were buying bread and pasta ourselves so we could have a proper breakfast. We already know that the cook who usually makes the voyage failed and the new one was not used to those tasks on a ship, but I believe that we passengers should not pay for these inconveniences. The same thing refers to the disorder and lack of cleanliness in the kitchen. Thank Lucia and Lourdes, two crew members who took charge of the kitchen and solved much of the problem.
- All week without air conditioning due to a breakdown. We are in the month of July and it was really overwhelming to sleep in the port with so much heat at night.
Finally, this is a trip of high economic value and we consider that we should have received better attention from MeleTravels, by exposing the problems we have encountered, everything has been missed without assuming any fault.
