GENERAL
Trip
We are pleased to offer a voyage to the Kornati Islands by sailboat. This destination is renowned for its numerous islets, which are nestled within the national park. This is a unique opportunity to experience sailing in the Kornati Islands national park.
If you're after something a bit different for your next holiday, then a sailing trip around the Kornati Islands, where you get to cruise between all the little islands, is a must! If you're into unique experiences, then the Kornati Islands are the perfect place for you.
A Kornati islands cruise is located in an area far away from the hustle and bustle and the most famous sights of the Dalmatian Islands. They are virtually uninhabited islandswhere natural parks abound, particularly the Kornati Islands National Park and its lunar landscapes.
You won't find historic walled villages here, but you will find small fishing villages with few inhabitants and hidden places.
A trip to Kornati islands is undoubtedly the one that has fewer miles to sail of all those we offer. A very feasible route for all travellers , where the sea is almost always calm, and there are rarely any significant waves in the area.
The cruise, originating in the marinas near Zadar, goes around part of what is considered to be a North Dalmatia and area belonging to the archipelago of the Kornati islands. It then moves southwards into more remote islands.
It is a popular boating area, as tourist access from land is very limited. It is also frequented by restaurants in bays for sailboats onlyvery exclusive.
If you're after something a bit different for your next holiday, then a sailing trip around the Kornati Islands, where you get to cruise between all the little islands, is a must! If you're into unique experiences, then the Kornati Islands are the perfect place for you.

How it works
- The Kornati Islands cruise is led by a skipper. who is in charge of steering the boat and showing you the activities proposed during the week of sailing.
It is important to note that there is no guide on board for the visits, nor is there a cook (meals are taken in groups, a very common practice on sailboats of this type).
- We try to plan an ambitious itinerary because we like to make the most of the areas where we sail. We will sail a few extra miles in order not to miss anything in Kornati islands. We guarantee to visit the most interesting places in the area.
The route is subject to change due to weather conditions and problems with mooring reservations. The safety of the yacht and passengers always comes first.
- You will experience sailing on the Kornati Islands with other people. We have a maximum capacity of 8 passengers, so you'll be sharing the trip with people who are just as keen to enjoy themselves as you are. Each pair of passengers will be accommodated in their own cabin.
- You will learn the concepts of sailing. You will have the opportunity to steer the boat and take part in the sailing manoeuvres on board, if you are interested of course. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.
- The final price is fixed, it does not vary at all.. No matter what fuel, port taxes or food you consume at the end of the trip. You will pay nothing more.
- The cook is included. You will not have to cook. You do not have to buy food on arrival, nor during the week.. This way, you will have much more time during the week to enjoy yourselves. You will also be able to order any type of food in advance.
- Travel itinerary may vary depending on external factors such as weather and availability of moorings. Unlike larger vessels, where the itinerary is fixed.
You can check in our section for shared groups. cabin charter sailing trips more information on how this type of travel works.
Skipper
Vedran
The fact that I was born on an island with a long seafaring tradition, the beautiful Croatian island of Vis, made it possible for me to be in love with sailing and the sea from an early age. This made it possible for me to have been in love with sailing and the sea since I was a child.
I hope to be able to pass on to you all that I have learnt about the sea and my homeland during these 7 days together on board. We are going to have a great time 🙂

* Skippers may change due to force majeure.

Tour

Day 1: KORNATI SEA - NEARBY FOUNDATION
We have about 1 hour's walk and the bay has fantastic waters for a swim when we arrive.

Day 2: SKRADIN - SIBENIK
On the way we stop for lunch on one of the islets that dot the area. Before arriving in Skradin, and if we have enough time, we will stop in Sibenik, a very picturesque town. Once in Skradin we moor in the marina and visit the small town with the sunset.

Day 3: KRKA NATIONAL PARK - PRIMOSTEN
On the way back from the excursion you will have lunch on the sailing boat. We then set sail for Primosten, which is 3 hours away. Primosten is one of the most beautiful villages on the Croatian coast. Strolling through its narrow streets is a unique experience.

Day 4: PRIMOSTEN - KORNATI NATIONAL PARK
On the way we stop for lunch in a beautiful bay. Later we enter the national park of the Kornati Islands, a key point among the Croatian islands.
This place is unique in the world and a delight for everyone's eyes. Sailing around the Kornati Islands is a real treat. You will thoroughly enjoy the rarities of its environment.

Day 5: KORNATI ISLANDS NATIONAL PARK
Later on, with a bit of luck we will have a bit of wind and we can hoist the sails to make a few tacks between island and island. I hope you will all have bought your sailing gloves to help out 🙂

Day 6: TELASCICA NATURAL PARK - SALI
Once we arrived at the park we spent the day exploring its many nooks and crannies. This area is fantastic for paddle surfing, with its calm lake-like waters. It's time for you to grab your paddle and get on your board 🙂
There will also be the option for those who like walking to take an excursion to the village of Sali, a 45-minute walk through the forest.

Day 7: TELASCICA NATURAL PARK - MARINA KORNATI
After lunch we will head north, back to Marina Kornati, arriving around 18h. Tomorrow Saturday at 9h you will disembark. This is the end of your adventure on board.
We remind you that the proposed itinerary is subject to weather conditions in the area and at the time. The skipper of the boat may change the route for safety reasons for the passengers and the boat.
We will also be able to modify the mooring points fixed in the itinerary due to problems with port bookings.
Activities

Sailing
In the course of the trip there are numerous sailing and steering manoeuvres. You can participate whenever you feel like it and learn the basics of sailing. The skipper will be happy to show you what you need to know.

Snorkel
Without a doubt, one of the great advantages of a Croatian boat trip is that you can snorkel practically all day long.

Trekking
On the islands of the Kornati National Park there are always options to go ashore to explore the area.
You can also visit the Krka National Park and its waterfalls by land. A place full of nature.

Swimming

Cultural Visits
It is very interesting to see the way of life of the locals in the small coastal villages we come across.
On the current journey you have interesting visits to the towns of Skradin, Sibenik, Primosten and Sali. All of them have a special charm.
Highlights

Kornati Islands National Park
Many have dreamt of sailing through its inhospitable landscapes, an almost lunar landscape. A place worth seeing once in a lifetime.

Town of Skradin
A stroll through its narrow streets is a must and a dinner in its restaurants is also very tempting.

Beaches Kornati Islands
The beaches are no less, and there are some of them that are a real treasure. Solitary beaches, clean waters... we couldn't ask for more.

Telascica Natural Park
Next to Mir Bay is the saltwater, mud-bottomed Mir Lake. It is fed by underground channels that cross the limestone to the sea and is surrounded by pine forests.

Primosten
A sunset stroll from the sailing boat is a must. And a dinner in one of the many restaurants with their terraces by the sea is wonderful. We won't miss it.

Kornati Islands Monument
Any monument, church or hermitage can be seen in the distance. The church of Tarac, in particular, is one of the most famous in the area and we will try to stop and let you explore its surroundings.

Village of Sali
A village with a very relaxed atmosphere, without mass tourism, ideal to visit at sunset. Its culinary offer is also very tempting.

Sibenik
But the real attraction of the Croatian town of Sibenik has not changed for centuries: its magnificent medieval quarter consisting of a stone labyrinth with steep alleys, ancient chapels, the Cathedral of St. James and the Town Hall, a beautiful Renaissance ensemble. A visit is a must if you have the time.

GET THERE
Embarkation / Disembarkation
The embarkation and disembarkation bases are located between Biograd and Zadar. These include marina Kornati, marina Zadar and marina Sangulin.
These marinas are the best for sailing around the islands of the Kornati Islands National Park, one of the objectives of the trip.
Between 10 and 28 km to Zadar airport.
And between 120 and 108 km from Split airport, with better connections to Spain and the main European capitals.

Arriving from the airport of Zadar to Marina Kornati:
- Taxi: 30 minutes, 50 euros.
- Bus: Airport bus Zadar - Zadar + bus Zadar - Biograd Na Moru. Then you can walk from Biograd Na Moru bus station to the marina.
Arriving from Split to Marina Kornati:
- Taxi 1:15h minutes, about 120 euros.
How to get there
Split has better connections with Spain and European capitals than Zadar.
Zadar is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Zadar (ZAD), flights with 1 stopover.
- Madrid (MAD) - Zadar (ZAD), flights with 1 stopover.
The best option for arriving on time for boarding on Saturday is to fly on Fridays with a stopover.
- Zadar (ZAD) - Barcelona (BCN), flights with 1 stopover.
- Zadar (ZAD) - Madrid (MAD), flights with 1 stopover.
Split is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Split (SPU), direct flights almost every day in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Split (SPU), direct flights almost every day in high season.
- Split (SPU) - Barcelona (BCN), daily in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Split (SPU), some days in high season. Fewer flights in June and September.
Dubrovnik is linked to Spain:
- Barcelona (BCN) - Dubrovnik (DBV) , almost every day in high season.
- Madrid (MAD) - Dubrovnik (DBV) , almost every day in high season.
- Dubrovnik (DBV) - Barcelona (BCN), almost every day in high season.
- Dubrovnik (DBV) - Madrid (MAD), almost every day in high season.
Alternatives to reduce the cost of flights
- On Fridays flights arrive from Barcelona to Split at 8:15am. It's the best alternative to pay less on the flight. We took the opportunity to spend a night in Split and visit the old town. Not to be missed.
- On Sundays there is a flight arriving in Split at 8.15am from Barcelona. It is much cheaper than the Saturday flight.
- If you fly on weekdays and not on a Saturday, ticket prices can drop significantly.
Other means of communication from Split are by sea with the Jadrolinija ferry lines:
- Split can be reached from Ancona (Italy), 8h.
- Split is connected by ferry with Dubrovnik to the south (9h30m.).
- With Rijeka to the north (12h.).
Dubrovnik and Split are connected by road by a comfortable 4-hour all-day bus service.
Our recommendation if you have a few more days of travel, about 10 days, is:
- Travel to Zagreb or Dubrovnik by plane, visits of their historical centres.
- Possible visit to Plitvice National Park and its waterfalls.
- Bus to Split 4:30h.
- 1 week sailing trip to the Dalmatian Islands.
- Visit Split and surroundings.
- Return to the mainland from Split or Dubrovnik.
You can take the hassle out of everything by booking our Croatia circuit.
This tour includes all hotels, transport and excursions. We also provide you with a very detailed itinerary together with all the written documentation.
PRACTICAL INFORMATION
Expenses during the voyage

The expenses you can expect on such a sailing trip in Croatia are around 100 euros per person, but it is relative and depends on you:
- Transport, bus or taxi on the first day.
- Restaurants during the crossing. Usually 2 or 3 times.
- Souvenirs.
Euros are accepted in some places but not in others. Credit cards are also not accepted in some restaurants.
Currency exchange

In Croatia the currency is already the euro as of 1 January 2023.
Telephone and internet

- Most telephone companies have already incorporated in their tariffs the consumption of calls and data abroad in the European Community at no additional cost. If your company has not done so, check with them before travelling in order to obtain a foreign consumption module.
- We recommend that you always go abroad with your internet data connected. This gives you a lot of security so that you don't get lost at any time.
- Data coverage during the cruise is not always guaranteed and you will not always enjoy 3G or 4G on your phone, only normal speed.
Medical expenses

- The trip includes travel insurance to cover possible medical expenses at the destination. Please contact us to request one.
- If you do not want to take out travel insurance or if you do not have a private health insurance company to cover your medical expenses at your destination, you can apply for a European Health Insurance Card (EHIC). As Croatia is already a European country you are covered. You can order it online and it takes a week to arrive by post.

The trip has been a fantastic experience, combining sailing and discovering wonderful beaches and bays during the day with visits to the cities in the afternoons and evenings (Vis, Hvar, Korcula, Stari Grad, Split and Trogir). All this under the guidance of our wonderful skipper, Pave.
We would like to thank Joan Nogueron, from the Melee Travels Agency, for his organisation, advice and tips to make this trip a success.
Thank you for everything, we will surely repeat in another destination.
- The food was scarce, it had the feeling of being in camps, with a daily pasta menu with very basic preparations, and the breakfasts were also very scarce. Luckily in port we were buying our own bread and pastries to be able to have a good breakfast. We know that the cook who usually does the crossing failed and the new one was not used to these tasks on a ship, but I consider that the passengers should not pay for these inconveniences. The same goes for the mess and lack of cleanliness in the galley. I would like to thank Lucia and Lourdes, two crew members who took charge of the galley and solved a large part of the problem.
- The whole week without air conditioning due to a breakdown. We are in the month of July and it was really oppressive to sleep in port with so much heat at night.
Finally, this is a high value trip and we feel that we should have received better attention from MeleTravels, when we exposed the problems we encountered, they were all just a bunch of baloney without taking any blame.
gives you a lot of security and is a professional
And Anita spoiled us a lot with her dishes and her company, and the group was super.
And the journey both at sea and on land
It was short, what a feeling of freedom
I recommend it 💯

In love with the colour of the waters of Ibiza/ Formentera. I think everyone should experience this with Mêlée Travels. It has been a fascinating adventure and hard to match.
We have enjoyed the most beautiful sunrises and sunsets we have ever seen, including a full moon, unforgettable!
Sailing and feeling the wind while watching the sails dance or snorkelling off the most idyllic beaches is a wonder that is hard to describe.
I made the journey with a friend and met some wonderful people when I got there.
It was an excellent trip in all aspects.
